“Green Innovation in Dutch Top Sectors” by Aylin Aksu

Dear prospective participant,

My name is Aylin Aksu and I am a double degree MSc. student in Public Policy & Human Development, with a specialization in Innovation from the United Nations University in cooperation with Maastricht University. My interests in sustainability, policy analysis and eco-innovation have inspired me to conduct this research.

Moreover, my experience at the International Enterprise Department of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs motivated me to deepen my knowledge regarding the Dutch topsectors, a group of nine sectors characterized by high labour productivity, exports and R&D investments. These strategically chosen sectors are critical for te enhancement of the economy’s competitiveness in the long run.

Both the topsectors water and chemical industry present great opportunities for technological change and innovation and have set ambitious goals towards these ends. Since innovation and sustainability are key to ‘staying ahead of the game’ this research seeks to uncover the external and interactional conditions that drive green innovation in maritime, chemical industry and water technology companies in The Netherlands.

I am looking forward to your valuable participation in this research.

Kind regards,

Aylin Aksu
